Customer video review of Boost Fin Plus

Love it! Love it! We connected the fin to my SUP and tested it on the Colorado River in Yuma, AZ in February 2026. Please - have assisted paddling while going upstream into the current while towing and make sure your paddlers are leashed one behind the other, not side by side. This is not a trolling motor - do not become too dependent on it. Boost will run 2-3 minutes and then will power down. Downfall is "recharging/powering ON the fin" while on the water. Always carry that special screwdriver!

I love it! Provides the needed boost when I misjudge the wind intensity on the day.

Just for interest's sake, and as I'm into bellyboarding, I made a board specifically for trying out the Boost fin. As a person in their 60's (who's not particularly fit!) I found the assistance getting out to the back a real bonus. It took no time at all, with very little leg kicking, and its duck diving ability was suprisingly good! The way the motor pulled you out from under a wave, and straight back into to the trawl out back is one of the main reasons it was so quick to get out there. Sure, it made for a relatively heavy board (3.2kg total) , but once used to muscling it about, it actually performed fine. The short full power boost did help to get onto waves that I would have probably missed using fins alone, but once on a wave, I did not notice any benefit to motor running. 70 minutes in the sea, using boost for every paddle out, then the short full power boost for every wave coming back in, there was 68pc battery remaining, which I was impressed with.

Arrrgh....the devil made me do it. . Getting too old (physically at 74) for regular surfing, so decided to experiment with a 5'6" foamie as my new boogie board. Wish me luck. ! And yes, all 3 fins synced to one remote.

Board's an aircraft carrier! Getting more confident w/both the fin and board. Boost fin was a BIG help paddling out w/sup assist mode and grabin' waves w/wave assist mode.

Its fantastic at getting you back out. The short high power burst did not seem to help much to catch waves cavitation? I did better with the long 50%

I was wooped trying to get out. The waves were relentless but so was the fin. It got me out there. Awesome product can’t wait for an easier day.

The long range speed is not bad, however, the rest controller buttons at times do not function well. On the other hand, I am not sure if it’s designed this way, but the fastest speed does not last more than a few seconds before it cuts off. I am using it on an SUP if it had more speed on the longer range, I think it would be a perfect product

La rapidez con wue llego . Ys tengo otra y esa ttafo mucho mas hace 3 años que por cierto se Me ha estropeado la Bateria

Excellent instructions.i bought it to support a long term rotator cuff injury and try to keep up with my 10 year old son ( I’m 73) I tried it at lost Shore surf resort near Edinburgh. The long boost getting out the back and the short boost on take off meant I got a lot more rides. The fin didn’t seem to make a big difference to how my Walden 8 foot mega magic handled but this is my first session so much to learn.

Boost Fin Plus

It’s simple to install and great on the water! I love it! Great purchase

Purchased 2. Charged them the same and followed all instructions. One worked great; the other's battery runs at half the time...

Boost Fin Plus

Makes surfing so much easier and better.

Boost Fin Plus

Works great. Extra boost is really nice against the current and on windy days.

The boost fin does help me get out beyond the breaks more easily. I do feel the help when I'm trying to catch a wave. The wrist remote is hit and miss for starting and stopping the motor. Maybe due to the motor being so quiet, I'm never really sure if it's on when I need it, or off when I don't. I noticed that the propeller blades get a little sticky, and don't swivel after a session. I've had to take the propeller off after each session and set the tightness of each little blade screw. Not sure why. I use it at Huntington Beach near 17th, and Bolsa Chica on the south end. There isn't a lot of seaweed here, so I'm unsure what is making the propeller blades so sticky. All that said, it is helping this 66-year-old novice surfer get more waves, so I'm glad I bought the Boost.

I'd love to show it to you in action, but after one session, the remote stopped working. Support suggested I should remove the back and replace the batteries. I followed instructions. Three of the screws came out, but the other three were stripped (probably during manufacturing and assembly). So I was stuck.

MY BROTHER TRIED TO GET ME TO TRY THIS 3+YRS AGO(PROTOTYPE), I SAID I NEED THE EXERCISE, NO GO! I am 72yrs old on a 10'8" paddle board and I surf it at seal beach 3/4per week for last 13 yrs, and I stay in 1 to 4 foot waves. I finally decided to buy it. I love this boost, still getting my exercise but catching twice as many waves, also saves my ass when trying to get out & over past the impact zone. and I'm staying out longer! sorry no pics, pulled a few off the surf cam, but not to clear. I hope this boost has some longevity. regards. Fred

Actually put the fin on a boogie board. The surfers were wondering how I was catching all the waves, Usually board surfers catch waves first because the plaining of the surfboard. it was kind of amusing. Wish you would design a boogie board that was made to accompany the boost fin1

Game changer

Boost Fin Plus

A friend and I purchased the boost fin for our SUPs. We've been caught in the wind on occasion and thought this would be a good solution to get us back to shore. Also looking forward to using it during whale season for paddling out further from shore. I have a carbon fiber board so I'm happy for the future the wrist control upgrade.

Boost Fin Plus

It doesn’t make me a better surfer at 77 but ido get less tired and have learned to lead the wave by starting the power fin prior to catching the wave. I still have to paddle but it gives me a speedier boost!

Boost Fin Plus

I enjoy how the boost surf fin takes the edge off of the oncoming wind. It helps you extend your paddle ride and offers great control navigating through wakeboat waves. I love it! I may decide to get the higher thrust model one day!

Boost Fin Plus

Fantastic project product, really enjoying it. Having said this the advertised 2 hour battery life is not true. Battery lasts 45 minutes!

FAQs

Boost Fin Plus package

• Boost Fin Plus
• Longboard adapter (US box)
• Boost Remote
• 100-240V Wall Charger (AU, US & EU plugs)
• Mounting Kit

All packages include a Longboard adapter by default. Selecting another variant of adapter adds it as an extra.

Does the extra weight of Boost Fin affect performance?

The hydrodynamic design ensures smooth gliding with minimal drag, so you’ll only feel extra power, not extra weight. Whether surfing or paddleboarding, your ride remains stable, responsive, and effortless. The additional battery means longer sessions without sacrificing control.

Is Long Range Boost Fin compatible with my board?

The Long Range package includes a Longboard Adapter, which fits most boards with a US box mount. If your board uses a different fin box system, additional adapters are available separately to ensure compatibility with a wide range of surfboards and paddleboards.

* What does “180 minutes in Surfing Assist (Long mode)” mean?

In Surfing Assist (Long mode), Boost Fin Long Range can run for up to 180 minutes, but this refers to total session time, not continuous motor use. The system is optimized for real surfing conditions, where power is used only when needed:

Paddling to the lineup – 3–6 minutes of boost.
Waiting for a wave – 3–7 minutes with no power use.
Catching a wave – a short 7–10 second boost.

By using energy efficiently, Boost Fin Long Range extends your session, helping you catch more waves with less effort.

Note: In the Boost Fin app, you’ll find two modes:

1. Short mode - which you can SETUP

2. Long mode - you usually select from the menu

What happens if I fall off the board?

Because you'll wear the button on the wrist (which most of you would do), you can shut it off manually anytime. So don't worry, you won't have to chase your board.

How much noise does Boost Fin make? Sharks?

The Boost Fin doesn't make any loud noise. We tested it out with surfers paddling 3ft away from the Boost Fin and they couldn't hear a thing. All they did was wondering how the heck was that surfer paddling so fast!

Later tests determined that sharks are attracted by frequencies ranging between approximately 10 and 800 Hz while we are using 30Mhz which equals 30000000 Hz. Plus you can also use a Shark Band bracelet for extra safety.

How to control the Boost Fin?

The device is switched on and off by bringing the screwdriver handle with a magnet into the light indication area. The Hall sensor HS1 is responsible for turning on, and HS2 for turning off. A timer shutdown is also possible, the default value is 30 min, which can be configured via the app. The device also turns off automatically when the battery is completely discharged.

After successfully turning on the device, the motor is controlled by a radio remote control with two buttons. The remote can go on your wrist, shoulder, or paddle if you're on a SUP. Button A turns on the Short Boost mode, button B turns on the Long Boost mode. All parameters of these modes can be configured through the mobile app, which can be downloaded here. Pressing any of the buttons again turns off the motor.

Waterproof Standards

Boost Fin meets the IPX8 waterproof standard (up to 10m / 32'9").

Each part and component exposed to saltwater are salt fog endurance resistant and certified for saltwater operation. All plugs, connectors, and other electrical contacted surfaces are covered with rubber plugs to prevent them from water.

Seawater can enter the charger port without any damage - there's a diode that essentially acts as a one-way switch for current. It allows current to flow easily in one direction, but severely restricts current from flowing in the opposite direction
